Description
This Stunning Baritone Beuscher Saxophone was made in Elkhart, Indiana-USA in 1927-1928.
As the ‘Jazz Fuel ‘Guide Beuscher Saxophones says “Beuscher was founded by Ferdinand August “Gus’ Beuscher in 1893.Working in the Conn Instrument factory form 1876,Gus built Conn’s first Saxophone based on an early Adolph Sax model. In I893 he left and started his own rival company , with their trade mark True Tone Instruments .Beuscher has since become a legendary name in the world of Vintage Saxophones and continues to be a popular choice amoungst Jazz players and collectors. In 1926 the Beuscher Band company was merged with the Elkhart Band instrument company and you can see this if you look closely on the bell of this instrument that was made a year later under the banner of Elkhart!
This beautiful Baritone at some point made its way to Britain and was played in local North East Army Wind Band .Not long ago during an Army Barracks clear out,it was found by a Cadet in a cupboard in a bad way and he and his family rescued it and brought it to us at Curvy Sounds
It is an absolutely beautifully made instrument and Anita Arnis has given it a full overhaul and polish and has brought it back to its former glory.A seriuosly gorgeous beast off an instrument- come and give it a blast!
