Rothbury Estate Appeal Raffle

We are raising money for The Rothbury Estate Appeal, launched by The Wildlife Trusts and championed by the inspirational 100 year old Sir David Attenborough. The goal is to buy the Rothbury Estate and create a beautiful wildlife corridor across Northumberland. This would protect over 3,800 hectares of moorlands, woodlands,  hidden valleys, and part of the exquisitely beautiful river Coquet – all home to a range of rare wildlife species. These include Cuckoos, who can be heard there in spring, Merlin, Curlews, Red Grouse, Snipe, Lapwings, Skylarks, Kingfishers, Red Squirrels, Otters, Salmon, Endangered Freshwater Eels, Mountain Bumblebees, Emperor Moths, and so much more!!

The Wildlife Trusts are in collaboration with local farmers and residents, to plan to create a wildlife corridor of Epic proportions, 40 miles, stretching from the beautiful Druridge bay (home to the rare natterjack toads and eyed ladybirds) through to the Northumberland National park, to Kielder and the Scottish border.

There’s still a chance to secure The Rothbury Estate by raising £30 million by September 2026.They are almost there … help us to preserve the Wildlife of Northumberland for future generations.

Curvy Sounds is launching a raffle of a unique, bespoke, Tokai Les Paul Guitar, customised by our Curvy Sounds founder, Andrew Mills. He has created a design entirely made of small iridescent pearl ovals that bloom outward from the centre of the guitar, based on a natural pattern that can be found in the centre of a sunflower, in the movement of a shoal of fish in the water, or flower petals on the surface.

We are really lucky to have been donated additional prizes by local Newcastle businesses, including gifts from The Last Resort and Artichoke Crafts, and vouchers from The Tipsy Toad, The Dog Grocers, Body Image Fitness, The Butterfly Cabinet, Smoke and Sear, The Handsome Sandwich, The Barn Door, 10ten, Quierido and Davidson Optometrists, and 1b Books!

Many thanks to The Crack for their article in The Crack magazine which helped launch our raffle, and to both The Crack and NE Volume for advertising the fundraiser.

Excitingly, the fantastic, locally based and world famous Indie Band ‘Maximo Park’ has also just kindly offered, signed Maximo Park Merch, to add to the raffle prizes!

The response we have had from our local community has been amazing. We have raised over £4000 so far and the amount is climbing daily as more people buy raffle tickets, and donate both money and gifts for us to raffle, sell, and auction for the Rothbury Estate Appeal.

Local singer-songwriter, Nev Clay has very generously donated his stunning 5th Avenue, Kingpin, Godin Arch top guitar with P90 pick ups for us to auction. Worth over £1000!

This will be up for auction very soon.

On the 4th of July we ran a stall at the Ouseburn Festival – selling locally made art works made by Kate Dickinson (Artist and Professional Gardener), Harriet Menter (Education Officer at Scotswood Natural Community Garden), and Claire Sarametz (Musician & Former joint head of Skimstone Arts).

Plants were kindly donated by The West Jesmond School Allotment and Fair-trade Musical Instruments from Curvy Sounds.

All profits went to the Wildlife Trusts Rothbury Appeal.

On the 29th of June, Kate Dickinson and Jess Mills (Co founder of Curvy Sounds) did a sponsored 6 hr walk in the Simonside Hills.

We are planning to organise an event/gig/exhibition at the end of September to draw the raffle,  and sell donated art works and plants.

If you would like to join us in our fundraising efforts, contribute with your own fundraising ideas or donate (for sale or auction) any plants, instruments, or art works based on nature, please get in touch us via email – curvysounds@yahoo.com or on our social media platforms (Facebook and Instagram) – @curvysounds. Please remember to subject “Raffle Ticket”.
